Terminalia Chebula – The Healing Tree of Radhanagri
Radhanagri Wildlife Sanctuary is not only rich in wildlife but also in medicinal plants. One such important tree found here is Terminalia chebula, locally known as Harad. This tree is well-known in Ayurveda for its powerful healing properties.
Terminalia chebula grows well in the moist and fertile soil of Radhanagri. Its fruits are greenish when raw and turn yellowish-brown as they ripen. These fruits are collected and used in traditional medicine to treat various health problems like digestion issues, cough, cold, and skin diseases.
The presence of Harad trees in Radhanagri reflects the region's natural richness and its deep connection with traditional knowledge. Locals and forest dwellers often recognize the value of this tree and use it in daily herbal remedies.
Apart from its health benefits, the tree also supports biodiversity by providing shelter and food to various birds and insects. In the calm and clean forest environment of Radhanagri, this tree silently continues its role as a healer and life supporter.
For nature lovers and herbal medicine enthusiasts, spotting a Terminalia chebula tree in its natural habitat adds another layer of wonder to the Radhanagri experience.
