Wings of Wonder: Exploring the Butterflies of Radhanagari
Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in the lap of the Sahyadri hills in Maharashtra, is not only famous for its dense forests and wild bisons, but also for the vibrant and colorful butterflies that call this place home.
As you walk through its green trails and forest paths, you’ll find butterflies fluttering around like flying jewels. These delicate creatures add charm to the forest and also help in pollination, making them an essential part of the ecosystem.
Many species of butterflies can be seen here, like the majestic Blue Mormon with its deep blue wings, the vibrant Common Jezebel that looks like a flying painting, and the giant Southern Birdwing, which is India’s largest butterfly. Their colors brighten up the forest and attract nature lovers and photographers from all over.
The best time to see butterflies in Radhanagari is during and after the monsoon season, when flowers bloom and the forest is at its most beautiful. Watching them in their natural habitat is a peaceful and unforgettable experience.
So whenever you visit Radhanagari, make sure to slow down, look around, and enjoy the silent beauty of butterflies. They are nature’s flying art.
