Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary is the first declared wildlife sanctuary of Maharashtra, located in the Kolhapur district on the southern Sahyadri hills.
This sanctuary is home to the Indian Bison (Gaur), which is the pride of Radhanagari. Other species include leopards, barking deer, sloth bears, giant squirrels, and over 264 species of birds and butterflies. It is also rich in floral diversity with numerous endemic plants and medicinal herbs. The sanctuary offers lush greenery, forest trails, serene landscapes, and is a perfect escape for nature lovers and wildlife photographers. It is part of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it ecologically very significant.
